RF RECEIVE MULTICOUPLERS

GENERAL

Data Acquisition Pty Limited manufactures two separate families of RF Receive Multicouplers.
The first of these families is designed mainly for Military and Professional applications including:

                        Shipboard                         Airborne                         Land Mobile                         Fixed Station

These Systems are generally manufactured in standard 19 inch rack mounting format, however other formats such as half rack width units can be supplied for specialised applications such as Airborne or Land Mobile.      Standard Systems are available in 1U and 2U Chassis.


For more commercial applications, Data Acquisition Pty Limited also manufactures an 'economy' range of smaller capacity Multicouplers.
These can be supplied as free standing,   wall mounting,   or rack mounting (1U) units.

ECONOMY MULTICOUPLERS

GENERAL

The Economy series Multicouplers are manufactured in two capacities:      1 In to 8 Out   and   1 In to16 Out.
Both capacity Units are manufactured in three formats:      Free Standing      Wall Mounted   and    Rack Mounting (1U Chassis).

Basic Specifications:-

Pre Amplifier: Built In   (Pre Selector Filter option available).
RF Outputs   (Receivers): 8   or 16.
Gain: Nominal 3db   (can be Customer specified).
Max Input   (Linear Operation): Nominal 0dbm   (Consult Sales Dept).
Output to Output Isolation: 40db worst case.
Crosstalk: 45db worst case.
Expansion: Not available.
Input Connector: TNC or BNC   (No cost option).
Output Connectors: TNC or BNC   (No cost option).
Power   (Free Standing / Wall Mounted Units): 12VDC only  (Plug Pack).
Power   (Rack Mounting Units): 12VDC   or   90-264 VAC  47-63 Hz.
AC Power Connector: IEC.
Dimensions   (8 Way Free Standing / Wall Mounted Units): 210mm x 100mm x 36mm (not inc connectors).
Dimensions   (16 Way Free Standing / Wall Mounted Units): 240mm x 100mm x 40mm (not inc connectors).

NOTE:   All Wall Mounted Units may be blind fixed to any surface using two 4mm screws.

SWITCHING MULTICOUPLERS

GENERAL

All RF Receive Multicouplers manufactured by Data Acquisition Pty Limited, other than the 'Economy' series referred to above, are designed as 'Switching Multicouplers'.
The 'Switching' identification simply means that each RF Output can be individually turned ON or OFF as required by the User.
This offers two main advantages:-
            *      The Unit's power dissipation is always minimised    (critical for some temperature sensitive environments).
            *      The inclusion of a control system enables other features such as Sensitivity control to be included.

Switching Multicouplers are manufactured in both a 1U, and a 2U Chassis.
Nominal Capacity for the 1U Chassis is one Input (Antenna) to 12 Outputs (Receivers).
Nominal Capacity for the 2U Chassis is one Input (Antenna) to 36 Outputs (Receivers).

Note that the 'Nominal' capacity is based on the use of TNC or BNC Output connectors.   Smaller Output connectors (e.g. SMC) can provide larger capacities (please consult our Sales Department for further detail).
Both Units can also be supplied with reduced Capacity to meet Customer requirements.


BANDWIDTHS - HF VHF UHF WIDEBAND

Both the 1U and the 2U Switching Multicouplers are available in three Bandwidth options:-
                        HF Band                                                  LowBand                                                  WideBand

HF BAND
HF Band Multicouplers cover the standard HF spectrum from 3 MHz (nominal) to 30 MHz (nominal).
Note that the specified bandwidth is nominal only, and can be tailored to meet Customer requirements.
Optional high performance LC Filtering (5th or 7th order Elliptic) is available to provide prescise bandwidth definition and out of band rejection.

LOWBAND    (VHF    UHF)
Lowband is a generic term used to describe any Multicoupler operating in the spectrum between HF and about 600 MHz upper limit.
This variant can be manufactured to suit any VHF or UHF (Customer specified) bandwidth.
Optional filtering can be included to provide bandwidth definition and out of band rejection.

WIDEBAND
Wideband is a generic term used to describe any Multicoupler operating in the spectrum between about 600 MHz and 3.3 GHz upper limit.
This variant can be manufactured to suit any Customer specified bandwidth to a 3.3 GHz upper limit.
This Multicoupler can also be supplied in Wideband format, providing continuous spectrum coverage from 100 KHz to 3.3 GHz.
Optional filtering can be included to provide bandwidth definition and out of band rejection.

CONTROL SYSTEM   (ALL MODELS)

CONTROL
Three basic control options are available, one or more of which can be fitted to any Unit.
                  *             Network control via a LAN.
                  *             Front Panel control via USB.
                  *             iPad or iPhone control via WiFi.

Network Control:
Network control connects the Multicoupler to a PC, and provides control from a GUI (point and click).
This type of control is only recommended if the Unit is going to be subject to regular control.
PC control software is provided with the Unit.

       As Multicouplers mostly tend to be a 'set and forget' system,  either USB or WiFi control will usually be more appropriate.

USB Control:
All Models include a front panel mounted USB connector (unpowered type A), to which a Laptop computer can be connected to provide control for set up and occassional use.       Control software is provided with the Unit.

iPad   or   iPhone Control:
All Models can be WiFi enabled to provide control from an iPhone or an iPad for set up and occassional use.
An application is provided with the Unit.

AUTO RECOVER   (ALL MODELS)
During normal operation, the internal control system stores all current control settings in non volatile memory, in order that, in the event of a shut down or power interruption, the system will automatically restore all control settings at power up, leaving the Multicoupler in the same operational condition as prior to the event.
